Fictionary

Here is another assignment from my illustration class. We were supposed to illustrate a page of the dictionary and so my words are: cock-eyed, cock, cocaine, cockroaches, coke, coffee, & cogs. My illustration is of a cock (or rooster) doing all these substances and so the cogs reflect his brain cracking out as a result.

These were some early versions:

This was the final piece I presented. I decided to present the final pieces as part of the dictionary I referenced.

Grandma

Yes.... my book is back.
This has been a personal project of mine for years now... but I'm still loving it and will not abandon it!

As always though, I have new thoughts and ideas and such.
To start, I do not think I want to make it an app/interactive book... it just isn't as feasible as making the book traditionally in print + it stretches my focus all the more by trying to consider the aspects of animation. Also, I have finally done something about my grandma's quarterback-like shoulders if you remember/ check out my older posts.... I finally got over it and let those bulbous things go.
I've also been mad inspired by vintage stuff lately and I figured if this will be print I shall let the illustration style go that a way.

"I Want to be a Coal Miner" has been my biggest inspiration as of late and I hope to be able to really capture some of this style. I like the use (and non-use) of line work around the color.

So point is: enjoy my latest rendition of Grandma! (and the niece who appears for a few pages at the beginning of the book) Here is the process... things will continue to change thought :)
