Hair Colored Flowers

My very sweet boyfriend saw flowers that matched the red color I just recently dyed my hair :)
So I painted them!
I did the painting while they were still mostly alive... the pictures of the real flowers here I took a little later.

It isn't my best painting, but I really like the way some of the flowers turned out--
It was super sweet to get flowers in the first place. <3 br="" nbsp="">

Abstract Projection

This is a video I had created to be projected on a mason jar. We never actually took the time to project it in class but maybe one day I will fer fun. I kept it simple on purpose because I had no idea how it would look/ distort through the jar.

I really like the song I found for this :)

Shrinking Violet

Since we had a more laid back week of classes I took the time to do some personal projects- yay!

This piece was inspired by a class project where we were given color idioms-- and a friend got "Shrinking Violet." I liked the phrase and although this really doesn't show 'shrinking' I had fun making the type pretty and took a lot of inspiration from 'violet.'

Its been a while since I've picked up a paint brush... and it shows. I tried to stay pretty close to the sketch, but it was definitely easier to work with pencil over paint. I do love the purple color though-- it looks so pretty in the light. :)

Splash

Gesture drawings of water  and splashes!
We had a great wrap up to our drawing week with Gary Schumer-- one dope teacher.
I hope to soon post some kind of animation for this soon as well :).

Rusty Gestures

For class we went to the Jungle Gardens today where we saw lots of coolio animals!
It was so much fun to draw gestures from life (like not on the computer!) :)
Please enjoy my terribly rusty gestures:
Flamingos
They have such a cool color / texture pattern in their back feathers! I petted one.

Owls & Parrots & Random Reptiles
Birds can be so cute!... but also annoyingly loud

 Goats
The miniature goats were cute too! we got to pet and play with them :)

Lemurs
My favorite animals were the lemurs! They were so damn cute. I want one as a pet & will name it Zoboomafoo. Also they sound like puppies [sorta] when they talk.

Fish
... sort of. I really like their tails and scales, but they were also constantly moving like the lemurs so it was hard to get something good down.

Traditional Animation

We had Ryan Woodward visit our class today. He is UMazin & super inspiring!
He quickly whipped up this little character animation and with only a few key frames that conveyed such weight and movement.

So I gots super inspired!

I made this little animation over the course of 3ish hours sprinkled throughout my day. It is not refined by any means but it was fun to get back to animating traditionally :). I used to animate pose to pose, but went straight ahead for this one. It took me a few re-starts to get the timing on this right - and it still isn't - but the point is it felt good to animate like this again.

I'd like to do more traditional animation and hope to push myself to do so!

Color Idiom: Blue Collar

Check out my color idiom poster for design class! I was given "Blue Collar" and had to create a design including the phrase and a possible tag line. I chose to include "I'm a Manual Laborer" to be punny.

The bottom two are my finals. I submitted the first poster because I think it fit the brief for class better, however I personally favor the second poster... even if it does read as more of a "cop" then "manual laborer." (I like the shades as a framing device :) )

The color palette is from the Rosie the riveter poster:
I thought she provided good inspiration for a factory worker. It is kind of funny / ironic that the theme of my poster is a "manly man" when my inspiration is from a poster empowering women haha.
