While I love posting about good news and good stuff happening-- things don't always work out for the best. I spent over half a semester working on my Promaxbda Student Story Challenge submission and ... [drumroll]... didn't win! yay!
Although it sucks to work hard on something and show nothing for it-- I feel good for how much I was able to accomplish. This is the longest piece of animation I have ever created and the longest time I have ever spent working on a piece, while also handling a full load of classes.
There are a million details I feel like I need to fix, motion I need to better ease, and masking I should clean up-- but it is done, and is what it is. I usually dislike personal pieces and work that is about a specific person (I prefer universal stories with specific details), but much against my feelings on it I decided I should share this animation that took as much time and effort as this did to make.
here is a link to it on my website
I feel like I focused on what makes me unique as an individual, while showing my skills and delivering the story as an artist. Where as it seems that other entries chose to focus their story / script on their personal feelings about being an artist. The brief was incredibly vague, so I find it interesting how different people chose to interpret it.
While there are some things I dislike about the winning video, I can see how it better fit the brief. If she were ever to stumble upon my blog I would like to congratulate her on winning, and say good job to all the other hard working contestants who entered.
