Photo Walk

Here are some pictures I've taken recently:
The first one I took from my porch at the place I stayed at over the summer.
The second one I took from my plane ride home to Maryland.
The rest I took today while walking my dog around my neighborhood.
Enjoy!

Official Website!

Thanks to Jacob:
I've been able to get Muse + a domain name + server space + help with putting it all together = my website.
There was then the one small problem left of... designing my own site.

I went through a ton of ideas and layouts!
My original goal was just to use my favorite color: red. (plus my other favorites-- black & white).

Then I decided to use brown to make my site warmer. I like warm and fuzzy.

Then I was told the red was to bright and bold and took the attention away from my work.
So I tried a plum-like color.

I didn't like how dull my last site design was, because I wanted to be bold without taking away from my work & information. So I came up with this design:

So far I really like the rainbow design! I think I'm going to stick with it for a while. As always I am open to suggestions for my site design, but for now I am satisfied. I need to stop touching it for a while and go play outside or something anyways.

Enjoy my new and official site!!!

Thumbnails

Yay!! I'm very happy I'm able to post some process work.
These are thumbnails from my sketchbook. I just want to remind people how important it is to get off the computer sometimes and work on paper. If I hadn't had jumped into my sketchbook I'd still be hitting my head against the wall wondering where the make-magic-button in photoshop is.

Scene Tests

Here are some more Grandma goodies!!
Here are some background tests... the main part of this story is supposed to be like flashback, or more so like an old lady telling her granddaughter an old story from her past. Here are some different treatments for a background template.
#1. white space
#2. photo album
#3. paint splash
Also a lot of people keep saying that my Grandma looks jacked... so I tried a little change to her design in hopes that it might have a big effect. I brought her head down in hopes that her meaty shoulders read as her becoming more hunched-backed as opposed to muscley-armed.

Setting the Scene

Here are some different treatments of the scene I'm trying to set up for my Grandma.

This is the original. Keep in mind this size was made with this project becoming a book in mind. It is supposed to be something like the size of a double page spread.
This is my latest and greatest style creation. This size/ proportions were picked with the idea of this project becoming an ipad/phone app. The left is less textural and using a font, while the right has a textured grandma (although not how she would like in the final with textures, they are kind of a quick mess on her at the moment) and hand written font.
I will definitely continue to push the latest style frame. I'm trying to decide on background colors/ if there should be more color, and how to get the better/brighter color so it appeals to kids more while still giving me a range so I can make every scene she will be in look dope.

and this is my latest granny:
Still debating on glasses or not!

Colorful Grannies

(difference is grandma's glasses in #3)

Finally starting to make some concrete head way on my book / app. Still haven't decided if it will be both, or either. I think I'm leaning towards making it an app like something similar to Ryan Woodward's Bottom of the Ninth, animated comic.

More to come -- !!
