Going for a Stroll

Check out my first properly-rigged 2D character. I've rigged a 3D character and ghetto-rigged a 2D character before... but I would love to step up my game with 2D characters!
(haven't done much in the way of 3D characters in over a year... and I'm ok with that)

So here is an animation test/proof of concept for a possible thesis idea I have/had... I don't know if I'll end up going with it but I was very happy to go through the motions and practice rigging and animating again. I think I would play with the way I rigged the arms/hands and/or play with the way I go about designing characters in the future.

I made 2 .gifs + rendered a video -- I felt that their walking speed came out differently once I tried to turn the video into .gifs... so the video has both walks
(skip ahead to half way through the vid to see the chill stroll).
I like the way the feet look in the .gifs, but it makes their arms super spazzy, but in comparison it seems like they move in slo-mo for the video, which works better with their arms.

Ugly Pages

Most of my sketchbook pages aren't that pretty... so while I'd rather be posting my pretty pages I would just like to note that I am not a robot and making pretty art means getting alotta ugly out first.

When I don't know what to draw I usually end up writing out my thoughts/song lyrics... I guess it was a Lilly Allen kinda day. haha

So It Goes

Continuing my sketchbook page a day!
I've been playing with quote by Kurt Vonnegut, "so it goes" and thinking about thesis stuff.

New York City

Sorry for letting so much time pass before posting-- It's been a busy summer :)

I feel like I've finally settled in some... it only took about a whole month! But now I know the metro or at least how to use the metro map. I've also been trying to push myself to draw more, and during my half hour commute on metro north is the perfect time.

When I'm on MNR I pass by a fair amount of project buildings, and for some reason they just really interest me. I drew this picture of them, and I don't know if it was the weather or the architecture but they looked sad.

Also, this is a really cool poster I saw on the subway, relating to the AMazing mural on the ceiling of Grand Central station. When I read this it made the mural even better (I'll try to remember to take pictures next time I walk under it).
